Roofers vs. Public Adjusters: Who Do You Call First?
Hiring a PA before a contractor gets involved can prevent underpayments, miscommunications, and premature repair commitments. Unlike a roofer, a Public Adjuster evaluates all areas of damage—not just what’s visible on the surface. This includes hidden damage, code upgrades, and policy-specific entitlements that often go overlooked. A PA ensures the claim is documented thoroughly, filed properly, and handled strategically to support a full financial recovery—not just a patch job.

Commercial Fire Insurance: Increased Concern In High Risk, Rural Enviroments
As record-breaking heat waves and wildfire activity surge across Texas and much of the Southwest, commercial property owners are confronting a stark reality: fire risk is no longer seasonal—it's year-round. According to the National Interagency Fire Center and Texas A&M Forest Service, wildfires have already scorched thousands of acres in 2025, with growing concern around dry vegetation, power grid strain, and delayed emergency response times. For owners of retail buildings, warehouses, office spaces, or multi-use properties, now is the time to evaluate the strength of your commercial fire insurance coverage.
Fire insurance for commercial buildings protects more than the structure—it covers interior assets, business interruption losses, and rebuild costs.

Understanding Flood Insurance: What Every Homeowner Should Know
Due to recent events in South Texas, we feel it's important to educate homeowners about the specifics of flood insurance. If you experience flooding, it’s important to report the damage to your insurance company as soon as possible. Documenting damage through photos and receipts will help support your claim. Working with a licensed public adjuster can also ensure you receive a fair settlement. While FEMA and the Small Business Administration offer assistance after federally declared disasters, this aid often comes as loans or limited grants and should not replace proper flood insurance.

Kerr County: What’s Happening Now?
Kerr County and our neighboring communities are facing the long, difficult road to recovery after the heartbreaking flash floods that swept through over the Fourth of July weekend. In these challenging days, President Trump has issued a Major Disaster Declaration, opening the door for FEMA to step in and help families and local governments rebuild and heal (Dallas Morning News). Support includes grants for temporary housing and home repairs, plus much-needed assistance for those facing losses without insurance.
Governor Greg Abbott responded with a state disaster declaration, immediately sending over 2,000 emergency personnel into the area, visiting with those affected, and calling a special legislative session for July 23 to address gaps in emergency alerts and to secure additional funding for lasting recovery (Reuters.com).
Even though the National Weather Service acted early by issuing a flash flood warning, many neighbors didn’t get the emergency alerts in time. Reports indicate that although the CodeRED alert was requested shortly after 4 a.m., a 90-minute delay meant that too many families were caught off guard and unprepared. This has led to investigations at both county and state levels, along with renewed efforts to invest in better siren systems and warning technology—an urgent need that’s been discussed before but put on hold due to concerns over cost and public opposition.
As local and federal teams continue to assess the damage, recovery efforts are in full swing. Lawmakers and emergency response leaders are promising their ongoing commitment—not just immediate help, but support for long-term rebuilding, better infrastructure, and more effective flood protections in the future. At Marshall Adjusting Group, we stand with you. We’re here to help you navigate your insurance claims, advocate for fair treatment, and help you rebuild with confidence.
